Wellmark Kidney Supplement is a nutritional supplement that supports renal (kidney) function in cats and dogs.
It contains Calcium Carbonate, Chitosan, Potassium Citrate, Inulin, Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium, ascorbic acid, folic acid, pyridoxine and B12.
Used daily for dogs and cats who need renal (kidney) support, such as those with chronic kidney disease diagnosed by a veterinarian.
Conditions:
Kidneys have many functions, primarily to remove waste products from the blood stream, regulate the levels of certain essential minerals such as potassium and sodium, conserve water, and produce urine. Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), or Chronic Renal Failure, is the inability of the kidneys to efficiently filter the blood of waste products. Chronic Kidney Disease usually affects cats and dogs as they age. Signs of CKD include increased water consumption and urination. Once the kidney failure is more advanced, signs may include loss of appetite, lethargy, halitosis and hair loss.
How to use product

Active Ingredients
Calcium Carbonate and Chitosan: act as a phosphate binder, binding excess phosphates in the intestinal tract so they are not absorbed into the bloodstream. Helps to slow the progression of bone demineralization and soft tissue calcification.
Potassium Citrate: a potassium supplement that helps combat hypokalemia caused by impaired kidney function. It helps raise blood pH and slows the progression of metabolic acidosis.
Vitamins (B6, B9, B12 and C): vitamins knows to contribute to red blood cell metabolism. Aid as a blood builder amidst compromised organs like the adrenal glands. Vitamin C acts as an antioxidant to reduce oxidative stress which can help bring back metabolic balance.
Pre- and Pro-biotics: help breakdown nitrogenous waster and avoid complications associated with azotemia/uremia like ulcers.
